First, a little story.  The craziness of technology really amazes me!  I’ve recently reconnected with someone else I went to high school with via blog & twitter … by sheer coincidence!  She was planning a visit to the Third Ward for her birthday and wanted to stop by Broadway Paper, so hopped on the website when lo & behold … there I was {use to be, for any newbies to this blog}.

She sent a note reintroducing herself.  We started following each other on Twitter.  We live just over a mile from each other.  And now we craft together?

Oh wait!  The ‘weirdest’ part was when I started seeing another friend of mine replying to Leslie’s tweets … whoa … world’s colliding!

Okay, so here’s the scoop.  Leslie twittered about this craft … Heather and I replied with ooo’s & ahh’s … Leslie jokingly suggested we get together to work on it … and we took her up on her offer!

We had a blast!  I hadn’t seen Leslie in uh-hmm some years, and Heather & Leslie enjoyed meeting each other … not to mention the large amount of kids we somehow assembled here!

And now … on to the craft!  So we took clay pots and covered them with chalkboard paint {of the spray variety}.  Then totally cheated and used the store bought seed packets.  Come on!  We had five hundred kids running around … no time to make them ourselves {not that the DIY isn’t totally cute!}.

We added a couple of silk flowers {with a brad in the middle … trust me … the brad totally makes the combo!}.  Tied it up with some twine and a piece of chalk and wa-la!  Perfect teacher’s gift!

For the last couple of years, I’ve given the teacher’s a gift card to Global Giving … a great organization that allows you to purchase a gift card, but the recipient goes online to redeem it … and by redeem, I mean they donate the worth of the gift card to an organization of their choice {that’s supported through Global Giving}.  A gift that gives … love that!
