princess tea party {inspiration board}

Before we left for spring break vacation, I was busy at work planning Hunter’s 4th birthday party.  Her party was scheduled for the day after we return … but … before I could get her {already printed} invitations in the mail, we received an invite from one of her best friends … party on the same day {Hunter’s actual birthday} and same time.

So … I did the next best thing and crossed off the date, making it for the following day.  Anyway … that’ll give me an extra day to prepare.

Okay … so I was all over this party.  Um, not so much actually.  I was getting super anxious about vacation, Piper’s birthday, a couple other things we had going on … and I really. didn’t want to plan a big party for Hunter.

Well, and here’s another thing … I’ve always been this way a bit, but even more so {I feel} with my MS diagnosis … even if I don’t really have a lot going on, even if my to-do list is relatively short … if I feel like I don’t have the time to work on something or plan … then I feel really out of control and anxious.

So yeah, the last thing I wanted to add to my list was a party for Hunter.

And truth be told, as I mentioned to a friend … there’s all this beautiful party inspiration all over the web and I felt sort of “pressured” {I recognize it’s totally my own pressure} that it’d have to be this fabulous party just so I could brag blog about it.

Alright, alright … you’re seeing right through me, aren’t you?

I decided to go ahead and throw a big bash for her.  In my mind, I kept telling myself, “you don’t have to blog about it.”  So silly … but that took the self-induced pressure off me and I really had fun with it.  Not to mention, giving myself a good 2-3 weeks to plan and get everything ready and set up … I just hope I remember this lesson and stop with my procrastinating habits!  I was under no stress at all and was actually able to enjoy it.

And as I mentioned in a previous post … seeing Hunter so excited to ask and explore what new feature was added to the party site {our living room} … too cute for words!

Okay, so once I started planning, I kept careful notes and pulled lots of inspiring images off the web.  I’d definitely say that having an inspiration board helped me pull my thoughts and ideas together.  So without further adieu … I proudly give you … the princess tea party inspiration board {as seen above}.

Unfortunately, I can’t remember where the prominent #4 and suitcases came from.  If you’ve come across it, please send me the link so I can give proper credit.

Anyway … turns out I’m super excited about this bash and just wanted to give you a little preview! ;)

    This party is going to be so lovely and special. I get the pressure thing… sometimes I put so much expectation on myself that I get lost and forget to be in the magic of the moment. As much as I love blogging I think it has intensified my personal expectations. Just remember that party will be amazing not only because of your special details & creative ideas, BUT primarily because it of the LOVE you put into it and because of how special it will be for birthday girl HUNTER!!!! HAVE FUN!!!! ENJOY!!!! PS I’ve always drooled over those Land of Nod suitcases.
