First up … we had some snow last week! It was our first snow and the girls were in heaven. Fell just in time for a white Thanksgiving morning.
And when there’s snow on the ground, the girls get … snow sundaes!! For breakfast, no less …
And the other thing I wanted to share this morning, is Mr. Rosy Cheeks {a.k.a. elf on the shelf}.
This is our first year experiencing this infamous little guy … but so far … well, so far … I don’t think we’ve got the hang of it.
In fact, the jury’s still out on that one.
So I buy the gift set … with the book and the elf. The girls are all excited to learn more about him. And as I read the story to them, they each get a turn holding the elf for a certain amount of pages before they pass him to their sister. They hold him, get to know him and feel the magic of it all.
So we read the story … about how Mr. Rosy Cheeks will watch the kids all day and then report back to Santa each night. We name him … Rosy Cheeks. We go to bed excited to see where he’ll show up in the next morning.
The caveat of it all … just one simple rule really. Don’t touch him. What ever you do … don’t touch.
What did my kids do?
They touched.
It was the second night. Piper found him in the morning and moved him.
And there he lay … for two nights, until Piper apologized and said she wouldn’t do it again … this is to the elf. She had a private convo with the elf.
Fortunately, Mr. Rosy Cheeks is all about forgiveness and is back in the game!
I love that Piper apologized to the elf! EJ has taken to greeting ours when she enters the room he’s in…and she makes sure to say goodbye to him when we leave the house too! Also, I’m thinking snow sundaes must have really good toppings…otherwise, gross!
That is hilarious. What a great story.
Cute story, keep them coming!
this is a great story! Where can I find the Elf and this book? My little ones are all grown up :( the youngest if 15…but I just because a step grandma and have a couple cute little neices that may be interested in this, very cute! Blessings Tracie.
I’ve had a little crush on this elf/concept for some time now. Unfortunately, I don’t have any small kids in the house so we don’t have a need for him (bummer). Thanks for letting me live vicariously through you and your adorable girls. Keep the stories coming :-)
You should try our elf tradition, Elf Magic, the girl’s could love, hold, play and drag our elves around. Your blog caught my eye not just because of the elf tradition, but our owner’s name is Piper!
Too funny Tra! Love that Piper had to apologize! I was always wondering what I would do if the kids touched ours….. so far Lilah is too scared to even think about touching “Sparky”. I will definately keep this one in mind in case of an emergency.
