kid’s camping party!

Welcome to Camp Seven S’more!  Home to Wynter {and Audrey’s} 7th birthday party!  The girls decided on a camping theme and we went from there.  Given the weather’s in the 40’s … we knew we had to be creative with the sleeping arrangements!

But first … the invite!  I found the font, wording and graphic I wanted … made a feeble attempt to put it together and knew it was time to call in my creative secret weapon!  Many thanks to Nellie for rescuing me … honestly, that girl is a designing wizard!  From her design, I was able to change it up and incorporate it into many elements of the party.

At a recent wedding I attended, wooden signs marked the way to the reception {thought planter #1} … and then while browsing a website recently, I saw a tipi {creative indoor sleeping arrangement} along with a cute wooden sign {thought planter #2}.  Our driveway is pretty long … so we had plenty of space to display these signs along the way.  The girls and guests loved it!  I’m pretty sure the UPS & FedEx guys did too!

And no camp is complete with out a welcome banner!

Some shots of the party decor …

Instead of a traditional favor bag of goodies, we made a donation to Kasumisou Foundation, who offers the opportunity for children in Cambodia to attend a fine arts camp.  We purchased caramel apples and I made a tag for the outside of the box explaining the donation and sent one home with each girl.  Oh! and any idea how dangerous it is to have extra caramel apples laying around?

No camping party’s complete without trail mix!  I used Golden Grahams, mini marshmallows and chocolate chips for our “happy camper crunch.”

In lieu of gifts, the girls asked for books they’ll be donating to their school library.

S’more cake pops!

The cake{s}!!

Our outdoor theater … complete with blankets to wrap up in the 40 degree weather!

And for our sleeping arrangements … we set up tipis in our living room!  The girls loved it.  They paired off and had two per tent.  We also set up an indoor campfire, strung Christmas lights low to simulate stars, and after dark we came in to play games and sing songs around the campfire.

Happy campers!  The girls had a great time all afternoon and night … but can someone tell me why, exactly they’re called “sleep”overs?  And shouldn’t we just start calling them overs? ;)

Audrey’s parents helped plan and participate with the party.  They started the afternoon off with a scavenger hunt, then some random running around the yard with a visit from a creepy looking swap creature {CJ in costume}, then a hot dog roast over a campfire for dinner, cake and then movie time and s’mores!

After the movie, we went in for games and singing around the indoor campfire fire … followed by an attempt at sleep.  Yeah.

Love these night shots!

Truly Amazing! You can tell you are a photographer, not a detail left out. I love the props you used and would like to know where I could find a stand like you used for the s’mores display. I’m in the planning stages of a camp out party for my soon to be 6 year old and any little extras I can add like this I know will make the party even more special. Thank you for your time. God Bless, Esther

Hello! I just wanted to ask if you ever have any issues with hackers?
My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing a few months of hard work due to no data backup.
Do you have any methods to protect against hackers?

I’m not sure exactly why but this blog is loading very slow for me.
Is anyone else having this issue or is it a problem on my end?
I’ll check back later on and see if the problem still exists.
