I warned you there’d be a few more rounds of birthday milking month!
In Piper’s class, the kids each get a turn being “star student” and it usually coincides with their birthdays. And since Piper’s birthday falls while the kids are out on spring break, she got her turn a week early. Perfect for the milking process, no?
It’s not anything too spectacular … they typically bring in some special items {including pets} and have it displayed for the week, talk about it, etc. and bring in their birthday treats.
It doesn’t seem too special, but Piper was so excited to finally have her turn! I don’t know … I guess if you have a whole week dedicated to you, it’s something to be excited about.
So she starts with her list of things to bring in:
antlers {yes, we have some laying around}
bunny {a real one}
big mama {a huge stuffed dog}
grandsam’s photos {cj’s dad enjoyed photography}
brain coral {yes, we have some laying around}
blanket {never made it in}
floppy {her fav stuffed animal}
passport {she’s had one since 2 months old}
american girl doll
jump rope
Whoopie pie birthday treats
And the best surprise of all!
We often will go to school and have lunch with the girls … and at the beginning of the week, Piper asked if I would come this week. Then she said, “but don’t tell me which day, surprise me.”
It got me to thinking … what if I have someone surprise her each day for lunch? And that’s exactly what we did! Between me, CJ, granny, and Trishie/Craig {auntie/uncle} … someone was there Monday – Thursday.
Then … the ultimate surprise! On Friday, CJ and I picked up McDonald’s for the entire class! Yeah. She was a rockstar that day …
Oh my goodness!! How loved she must feel!!! What a wonderful “star student’/pre-birthday week that was!! Love the whole lunchtime thing!
I think a surprise lunch date each day was the best gift of the week! How cool is that? (and I bet you guys had as much fun on your lunches with her as she did)! :-)
What a fun week! I love that you had someone surprise her each day for lunch (she must have been thrilled!) and then bought McDonald’s for the entire class on Friday. Oh my gosh — just another reason why you rock:-)
When I was in elementary school my mom used to put notes in my lunch and I always looked forward to seeing what fun surprise I’d find. This definitely makes me remember those days. Ahh…memories. Just think of the memories you’re creating for Piper (and the rest of the girls!)
You’re such a cool mom. I’m jealous! I’ll have to keep all of your ideas in my back pocket for when I have kids of my own.
so cute! you are a great mama!
i love the idea of someone different coming to eat lunch with her each day of the week. so sweet!
Cool, cool & super cool!
ah! i know now. this is why you tweeted that you spent more than $100: to surprise piper on her pre-bday! how lucky she is having mother and father like you and cj!!! and also, the whoopie pie seemed look delicious, nyummy!!!
