it’s only rock ‘n roll to me …

I’m so behind in posting so many things I’ve been wanting to share!  We’ll be heading to the lake later today and I’m hoping to spend some time chillin’ catching up on some old posts … we’ll see.  The weather isn’t suppose to be great, so it’d be a nice indoor project.  Again, we’ll see what the week brings. :)

This morning I’d like to share some videos of miss teenager at Camp Jam the last couple of weeks.

camp jam chicago

This is the coolest camp ever!  Slogan:  No canoes.  Lots of rock.

Classic rock, heavy rock.  Nirvana, Led Zepplin, The Who … wasn’t sure how Tay would handle it, but she loved it!  I’m so proud of her for doing this … it sure ain’t easy getting on a stage and singing in front of people!

Are you ready for a boat load of videos?

This is Tay at the first concert, after her first week … singing Nickelback’s “Gotta Be Somebody.”  It’s hard to pick her out over the music and other vocals.  The other thing I noticed is that it’s hard for the female vocalists to find the right key for rock music.  Know how guys kinda scream and yell … well, the ladies seem to want to find their ‘pretty voice.’

What’d ya think?

So this camp can be either an overnight camp, or a day camp.  There are 7-17 year olds attending.  The 7-10 set can only do day camp and 11-17 can do the overnight.  Not everyone does overnight though, some still come in just for the day camp.

For the overnight camp, we drop them off Sunday night, then bring them home Friday after the concert.  Tay was signed up for two weeks, so I brought her home Friday, then back again Sunday night.  I really thought she wouldn’t go back {she’s just a homebody kinda gal}, but she was super excited to go back again.  She had a great time!

Here’s her second week concert.  Singing Green Day’s “Boulevard of Broken Dreams.”

What’s so amazing about this camp … these kids come together with no prior knowledge of each other or working together … they need to work together as a team starting Monday morning and by Friday night, they are playing a full-fledged rock song!  It’s sort of crazy!  I was impressed.

I’m SO proud of you Tay.  I know you were nervous about doing this, but you did it and you did amazing!

Alrighty … I warned you this post would be full of videos!  Here’s a couple more {you can’t see me} movies of Taylor singing … Now we need to start encouraging her to show her pretty face when she puts these videos together! ;)

Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles.”

And her current fav … Journey’s “Separate Ways.”  {gotta love the ‘message alert’ during the song … oh and the little lyric mix-up …}

I love ya baby, and am so proud to see you making these strides!!

    Taylor has a gorgeous voice and she’s such a cutie. I think she’d be great in musical theater! You should get her hooked on Chicago, West Side Story, etc. :)
