Alright, here’s another one I’ve had sitting as a draft for far too long! This post pushed me to ‘deal’ with it and get my thoughts out there to share with y’all! Lucky you … :)
One thing I know is that I’m super blessed. Extraordinarily blessed … and here’s part of the reason:
My besties. They aren’t all represented in this photo, but a darn good handful of them are! I seriously don’t know what I’d do without my friends. They laugh & rejoice with me … and they call & text when they know I’m down. But the thing about good friends? I don’t even mention that I’m down … they see my face, or find me in their thoughts, so call to check up and make sure all is well. And what’s funny … when that’s happened, things actually weren’t well. I believe the Holy Spirit has a way of looking out for me {cuz I’m notoriously known for not reaching out for help} and lets these guys know I’m in need of some prayers and TLC.
Extraordinarily blessed I am.
One of these lovely ladies below put together a dinner at her house for the rest of us. When I got there and saw everyone bringing something I thought something might be up. I’d asked if I could bring something, but “no” was the answer.
Before dinner, we had some time chatting with wine and appetizers outside, when Sue made an announcement as to the real reason we were all there. K, I’m interested …
Turns out the ladies were toasting me and our good friend Marta {awesomely, strong breast cancer survivor!!}. Marta for the obvious and well-deserved reasons. And me? Cuz I’m a good friend.
Humpf! Why am I crying??
I seriously don’t feel worthy. I love these guys and I do what I do cuz it all goes full circle, right?
Thank you Lord for sending me these awesome women!
And then …
I got a new Bible from my mama! I seem to be collecting Bible’s these days! This is a New King James Version and I’ve really been lovin’ it. It’s small enough to travel with, but the text is large enough to also read it in church. Sometimes those mini-Bibles can be challenging to try to read during a service.
My mom is so knowledgeable when it comes to the Bible. I love knowing when I have a question, I can go to her and she usually has an answer. And if for some reason she doesn’t {it is a big Book afterall!!}, she most often knows right where to find an answer.
Thank you Lord for all the blessings you’ve bestowed on me. My cup overfloweth …
Awww…I wish I could have been there that night to celebrate you and Marta! We all feel so blessed to have you and each other. You are amazing.
Love you!!! I’m so thankful that God gave me an amazing friend like you…I love that you get me, that you are there for me, and that you’re silly with me too! :-) I hope I’m half the friend to you that you are to me!
I’ve been such a road warrior lately that I have not had time to read one of my favorite blog sites and today would be the day I had a few minutes. What a nice blog! Let’s not forget what you and Marta have taught us about bravery and faith when our health is compromised. You are both amazing women and I value your friendship so dearly!! Love ya!
You know, you “get” what you “give” and you so freely give your love and friendship to us all.
Love ya, me
I one time heard Warren Buffet and Bill Gates interviewed and they were asked to give their definition of success. Each in their own way (some of the most powerful in America) said, ‘To love & be loved.’ …we knew that!
“Lean on me, when you’re not strong, and I’ll be your friend, I’ll help you carry on, for it won’t be long, ’til I’m going to need somebody to lean on.”
– “Lean On Me”
“The only way to have a friend is to be one.”
It was a such a fun evening and I feel so blessed to be in the company of such wonderful, caring and amazing ladies…and to be considered one of your friends.
“A friend is one who knows you, but loves you anyway.”
We are the ones who are blessed to have you in our lives. We are all better because of you. We also feel blessed because you have brought all of us together. Love you ladies!!!!
