graze organic {giveaway}

Oh hello … ingenious product!

In light of my recent Earth Day post … I thought these organic pouches from graze organic would be perfect to share!

A couple of mom’s were doing all the right “green” things, but still using plastic bags in their kids lunches.  They set out to find an alternative, but came up empty … read more to find out how graze was born.  I’m also lovin’ the tagline :: “graze … because every bag matters.”

    Very cute but I want to know if they keep the chips from getting stale? And doesn’t the fruit or jelly get the bags all wet and leaky?

    hello all! i thought i’d answer lauren’s questions here in case anyone else was wondering the same.

    the pouches have a nice velcro closure and the fabric is tightly woven. i think for a day, chips wouldn’t get stale. and yes, the pouches would get a little messy with drippy jelly, wet fruit … but they’re also washable.

    and as they state on the website, sometimes a plastic bag must be used, and they understand that. but for cases that these pouches can be used … i think they’re brilliant! ;)

    Hi Tracie,
    Just thought I may be able to answer some of those questions a little further. As for the fruit, the only fruits I would not recommend are soft strawberries, blueberries or rasberries. They will stain the bag. I put in sliced oranges and apples and it’s not a problem. Also, my kids eat tons of dried fruits and freeze dried fruits as well. Graze bags are not meant for long term use. They are meant to last until lunchtime and in some cases longer. As for the messy sandwich… I put tons of messy peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in the bags. Just turn the bag inside out and wash with your next load. It all comes out! If you want your sandwich bag to stay super clean all week, you can purchase some unbleached wax paper and wrap the sandwich in that. Completely biodegradable! Hope this answers some of those questions. Thanks for the support ,Tracie. Your awesome!!

    Best,
    Leslie

    Too cute! But Leslie, doesn’t the (petroleum derived) wax on the wax paper redner it NON-biodegradable??

    Hi Rachel,
    The wax paper I have used in the past and would recommend is by Natural Value. It is unbleached, landfill safe, non toxic when incinerated and will not contaminate ground water. On the other hand, plastic baggies do contaminate ground water, never biodegrade ( instead they photo-degrade. It breaks down into smaller pieces of plastic dust) This gets into our waterways and soil. For me, the most upsetting thing is the havoc plastic baggies have on marine life. So even though “graze bags” are the perfect choice when reducing the use of plastic baggies, natural waxed paper is definitely a better option then plastic. This is just my opinion.

    Okay, I never said it yesterday and no one else has mentioned it yet – but HOW PERFECT is it that there is a bag marked “surprise”???? That’s the best bag in the WHOLE SET. My dad used to make my lunch for school every single day when I was a kid and I always looked forward to it even though every single day I got a PB&J. Because Dad would write a note on a napkin, or sneak in a piece of candy, and EVERY day, he would cut my sandwich in a different shape. Sometimes it was a heart or a star straight out of the middle, sometimes it was funny zig-zag cuts, sometimes little squares or triangles.

    How special is it for kids to know they have something to look forward to at lunchtime every day? Lunch can be just a part of our routine, but I’ll never forget those funny zig-zag sandwiches my dad made me. Even if I don’t win these, I’m going to make some little washable bags marked “surprise!” when my kids are in school so I can leave them a secret treat every day. I want them to have the memories my dad gave me. :)

    i just had the pleasantry of visiting one of the most toxic landfills in the state (franklin,wi) and was horrified by what we saw on top where we dumped our biodegradable material. i have vowed to stop using plastic wherever/whenever possible! im all about reusable – these bags are just the answer!
