I spotted this craft here, followed the link here and immediately put it on our must-do list!
The girls didn’t know what I had planned yesterday morning when I told them to get their swimsuits on and meet outside. But I think they could tell from my excitement that it was gonna be sumin’ good!
I got everything set up while they patiently waited. Then dipped a paint brush into one of the paint bottles and flung the paint at Wynter’s cardboard. Piper, my little artist looked at me in shock! “What the heck?” was written all over her face.
Wynter caught on very quickly, but Piper was quite skeptical. She wanted to do a traditional drawing. I told her she could.
But when she saw Wynter going at it, she quickly followed suit. And I had an extra piece of cardboard I promised she could do a regular drawing on, so she was down with the Pollock inspired art project.
There were just too many good photos to choose from, so I put together a little collage of most of them. They were flinging paint so well, they got me {but luckily missed my camera!}!
I was lovin’ Piper’s painting techniques. She was SO into it! I love too, that she picked a small color family and stayed with it.
When they were finished, Wynter smeared her colors all together and got a wonderful grey beauty for her efforts. Well, the grey beauty and colorful legs!
The best part? Washable paint, so I threw them in the pool after our project and we had fun swimming for a while.
I think I really was mom-of-the-year for a few minutes there! ;)
And if you know me, or have visited my house … you know it’s filled with photographs and children’s artwork … everywhere! And I’m happy to add these to our collection … hey, they may be worth something someday!
This looks like it was SO much fun!! Art, swimming, picnic = mom of the year status for sure! I’m glad Piper joined in…I can see Jack doing the same thing. Somehow flinging paint just seems “wrong!”
Yup . . . Momma of the Year for sure. Those.Are.AWESOME!!!!
These are so cute! What a fun memory for your girls!
Genius!! What an awesome activity! And how freeing for them, to do something completely different—definitely, momma of the year. :)
They turned out great! Just looking at them makes me smile :-)
OK…I’m really gonna have to steal this idea from you! I think this is just so COOL and talk about fun…I think I may also have to join into this art activity. Love it!!!
