iphone for kids? absolutely!

No … not that they should own one, but oh-my-goodness the plethora of childhood uses {I’m thinking you don’t want me to go into all the adult uses?}!

I’ve got a few applications that I use, but I know I haven’t even touched the surface with what’s available.  Just take a look at the app store {prepare to get lost for a couple hours!} …

Toddler flash cards, word magic, baby monitors, games, shopping, health guides, the Bible!  Crazy … and completely cool!

So I did this blog post on the Broadway Paper blog about a new baby monitor app.  So cool … you set the ‘monitor’ to dial a certain number when it detects noise {or the baby wakes up}.

Anyway.

I get a call a while ago from someone who writes for the Associated Press that they’re doing an article on the iPhone and uses for children.  They found my blog post and wanted an interview to find out more.  Okay, I’m game!

So we do the article and that’s that.  Then a couple weeks ago, I get another call from our local paper who saw the article on the AP.  They ask if they could take some photos of the kids using it … um, sure … we’re game!  :)

Piper had an orthodontist appointment last week, so I invited the photographer to tag along.  Piper was super excited at the thought of being in the newspaper!!

We got to the office early and I gave her the phone like I usually do when I’m filling out paperwork, etc. and she’s so absorbed in watching Cinderella she doesn’t even notice the photographer who’s started snapping away … it was a cute moment.

Anyway … so this weekend, the article and photo were released in our local paper.  We were all excited {and got a kick out of Piper’s name …}.

I didn’t scan the full article, but it’s all over the internet!  You can read it here, here, here, here, or here … okay, seriously … I just did a google search and this article is all over … crazy!  You can even find it in Spanish!

Now excuse me please … I’ve got some app browsing to do! ;)

That’s so fun! I met a 1 year-old baby the other day who uses a bubble app and piano app. She knew exactly what she was doing on that thing.
