ready for a swim meet?

Piper wasn’t.

If you were one of the first five loyal readers of my blog, you may remember this post?  Yeah, Piper’s attitude toward swim meets hasn’t really changed in a year.  She did. not. want to do it.  But at least this year she didn’t whine, cry and act terrified.  It was more of a moping-around-the-pool kinda thing that she did.

And this year she didn’t have pierced ears on the line … so I had nothing to motivate her with.  Promised ice cream wasn’t cuttin’ it!

So this year … Piper & Wynter both made the team … actually, Wynter is more of the mascot for the team.  :)

When we went for try-outs, they were both goofing around … horribly!  Embarrassingly, horrible!  And wouldn’t swim properly.

Since Piper was on the team last year, they knew she could swim, but they needed to see how Wynt did.  She did okay … but still not strong enough to be in a meet, so instead, they asked her to ‘swim along with the team.’  That’s translated to being the team mascot.  She does a few laps here and there … but I think she’s best used judging canonball contests!  ;)

Without too much of a fuss, Piper swam in her first event {freestyle} … I think this photo of her friend Sam {different team} watching her dive in is so cute!  Don’t you wonder what she was thinking?  I even wondered if Piper took off before the horn blew.  I totally don’t remember that she did.  They didn’t stop the race, so she must not’ve?  But I still have to wonder why Sam isn’t diving in … hmm.  Anyway, love the shot …

LOVE this!!  She finished.  She made it.  It wasn’t that bad.  Nothing bad happened.  She did it!!  Woo!!

{still have to teach her to touch the wall when she gets to the end though …}

And then her next {and last} event was the breast stroke.  Last year, she did the whole thing under water.

This year she swam above water and did great!  She came in first place {she was the only one swimming, hee}!

I love this photo of her all by herself and waiting for the horn!

I love you Pipey J and remain the proudest mommy of all!
