snapshots from nowhere canada {tuesdays unwrapped}

life is full of unexpected blessings :: one just needs to be open to them

A couple days before our recent trip to Canada, I was on a Skype call with the MODsquad team.  And I was telling them about our upcoming, less than luxurious trip to the middle of nowhere.

One asked a question whether I was looking forward to it, or merely “enduring” it.  Since I really was not looking forward to this trip … I quickly answered, “ENDURING!”

I’m actually a camping, fishing, adventurous kinda gal … so I’m not exactly sure what was going on that I wasn’t looking to forward to this trip.

The teen wasn’t coming along, and that always feels a little “off” when she’s not with.

I wasn’t looking forward to the long day of travel to get there.  Or the bugs.  No electricity.  Outdoor toilets.  I just wasn’t feelin’ it this year.

Anyway.  Off we went … and it turned out to be one of the greatest blessings.  We had an incredible time.  I’m smiling just thinking of it.

We were in the middle of nowhere.  And it was quiet.  And it was beautiful.  Take a look at this clip … this was what we were surrounded in for 5 days.  No houses.  No people.  No boats.  No noise.

The day we left, we started out at 5ish in the morning.  Flew from Milwaukee to Minneapolis.  Layover there.  Flew from Minneapolis to Thunder Bay, Canada.  Drove to the seaplane port.  And took another 2 hour flight to nowhere, Canada.  We got in around 7:00 that night.  Unloaded our plane {all our food, supplies, gear, etc.}.  Got settled in, made dinner and headed to bed!

I think the biggest blessing of all … watching my three girls.  And realizing the adventure their daddy was providing for them.

Piper and Wynter are two peas … and it’s not too often they let baby pea in to play.  But when there wasn’t much else to do and no one else around … it was amazing to see these three girls together.  They laughed and played and ventured … together.

Blessings indeed.  Everywhere you look.

    I’m so there next year – WHAT FUN! Beautiful, peaceful, family bonding — what we miss out on so many days of the year by being “too busy”. I could just drink in those pictures all day! Thanks for sharing!!

    These pictures make me wish we were out somewhere in our camper enjoying the water. It is amazing how my three girls bond when we are away from the busyness of town. They actually do know how to play together. Glad you ended up having a wonderful time. Can’t wait to hear all about your latest adventure.

    Seriously?! My eyes are welling up! That looks and sounds just like heaven to me! I’m a camping outdoors kind of gal. My family camped often when I was growing up, and I haven’t been camping in a very very very long time (8 years or so)….kids and hubby that is not really up for it don’t help. So your post was refreshing!
