Remember fort building? That magical, mystical land hidden underneath a slew of blankets …
My sister and I would play for hours in our forts. We’d spend hours planning our forts. We had a string of clotheslines in the basement and backyard … so we used to play “love boat” and make numerous rooms next to each other, connected by one long hallway of sheets. What innocent fun.
So when Hunter asked me to make her a fort the other day … I realized it’s something we just don’t do often enough.
So we spent the next few hours making and playing in the fort.
I’d like to note … I was so busy taking photos of Hunter in her fort, that I failed to realize … those markers in her hand? Yeah. She’s drawing in that porcelain bowl.
Needless to say, she’s been grounded from markers for a while.
And once we got started with Hunter’s fort … Piper needed one too.
So the gift I’d like to unwrap for you today … is fort building! Grab some blankets, a game, some snacks … and create yourself your kids a magical kingdom! Who needs calgon? :)
You just brought back some precious memories of my own fort-building days with my little one, who is now 23. Cherish the days.
Yay for forts! What sweet time with your girls!
My kids love forts. Love them. Now my older boy wants a “magic treehouse”– wonder where he got that idea! :)
who needs kids?? i picnic in a fort sounds like the beginnings of a magical date-night-in to me! :-)
Forts are the best. Sofa cushion ones that tumble like a house of cards sometimes lead to tears…. we’ve learned over the years :)
We love making forts! Thank you for the reminder… as we also don’t do them nearly enough!
